Philippine’s Boxing Hero Manny Pacquiao faces Mexico’s Juan Manuel Marquez for the Super Featherweight title today, March 15, 2008 (March 16, 2008 PH Time). The fight will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The fight will be aired on HBO Pay-Per-View but it will be televised, free, here in the Philippines by a local network, GMA7, in a not-so-slightly delayed telecast. Well, I guess they have to squeeze their sponsors in. LOL!
This will be the second time the two fighters face each other. Four years ago, the match was undecided with one judge favoring Marquez, one judge favoring Pacquiao while the last judge saw it as a draw. This time, I’m very sure that there will be a winner.
Today, every Filipinos here in the Philippines and around the world will be united once again (even if it is just for a few hours or minutes) to support Manny Pacquiao’s quest to become the new Super Featherweight Champion of the world. It’s kinda funny and sad that in a country divided by political agendas and self interests, for the last 4 years (could be more) the only time everyone is united is during a Pacquiao fight. I guess that’s what makes Manny Pacquiao special. His fights have the ability to make every Filipino forget their differences and unites them in a common goal.
