Pinay Scandals??? A Google Phenomenon?

I noticed that many Pinoy or Pinay owned blogs have a post about Pinay Scandals but upon reading it there was nothing in it that features any form of Pinay or even Pinoy related scandals.

Take Joan Joyce’s Pinay Scandal post on her blog. The entire post was about a book titled “How do you know your pearls are real?” by Barbara C. Gonzalez. Pinay Scandal was only mentioned on top of the post. LOL!

Pinay Scandal

Another example can be found at Pinoy Ambisyo. He too has a post titled Pinay Scandal but again there was nothing in it that is about an actual Pinay Scandal. Ha ha ha!

Oh my! It seems that a lot of Pinoy or Pinay bloggers are blogging about this topic and I just realized today that Pinay Scandal is a very big thing, not only within the Pinoy blogosphere but also, in Google as well.

Anyway, there is no real Pinay Scandal posted on any of the blogs mentioned and after reading all three post I learned that it is just some kind of link building thing or an experiment to rank well in Google with the keywords Pinay Scandal but I do like the reason Pinoy Ambisyo mentioned in his Pinay Scandal blog post and that is “to protect our Filipina women online”.

After searching for Pinay Scandal in Google, I kinda understood what he meant about protecting our women. Now, anyone who tries to search for content about any Pinay Scandal, the only results the searcher will get are posts made by the many Pinoy and Pinay bloggers who blogged about it.

I believe it’s a worthy cause but I also feel that it is like trying to game Google by skewing the relevancy of their search results because I’m quite sure that anyone searching for Pinay Scandal in Google actually wants to get results that are about an actual Pinay Scandal. My concern is that, what if Google sees this as an attempt to, like what I’ve said, game their system. Google really hates it when their system is gamed that’s why they are spanking blogs left and right for selling text links and accepting paid post that pass pagerank.

Well, if it is for a good cause then why not but, you know, to really protect our women then I strongly suggest that they don’t let themselves get into such scandalous situations.

It’s a variation of a Google bomb or link bomb…

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb

This is their official statement about it…

“We don’t condone the practice of googlebombing, or any other action that seeks to affect the integrity of our search results, but we’re also reluctant to alter our results by hand in order to prevent such items from showing up. Pranks like this may be distracting to some, but they don’t affect the overall quality of our search service, whose objectivity, as always, remains the core of our mission.”

Porn sellers also use manipulative strategies to get to the top of Pinay Scandal searches. We believe using Google bombing to deny them visibility in the SERPs serves a better purpose.

    Thanks.
