Fun On The Operating Table

Not too long ago, news broke out regarding the conducts of some doctors and nurses at a hospital in Cebu. I didn’t give it much attention back then because I thought it was just another one of those silly patient-doctor disputes but I was wrong it was more than that. In fact, it became so big that it even hit the WEB via YouTube and people around the world are viewing it right now.
After watching the video in YouTube, I was very disappointed in the conduct of the Doctors and Nurses who performed the minor operation. You see, from beginning to end, they were all laughing their hearts out at the condition that befallen the patient. I must admit that having a spray can stuck up your ass is funny but as professionals a little laugh would have been enough but, instead, they were like in a fiesta were everyone was rejoicing.
The condition was already humiliating enough for the patient but having your doctors, whom you suppose to trust, laugh at you is more than humiliating and to make matters more humiliating, the video was even uploaded and spread all over the world through the internet. Now, the entire world knows how unprofessional our medical practitioners are. Tsk! Tsk! *sigh*
(Warning! Video contains graphic content. The intent is to show how the doctors and nurses behaved during the entire operation!)
Taking videos of medical operations are not uncommon. In fact, it is done for educational purposes but, please, it should be taken by a professional. In the video, you’ll see some people were using their mobile phones to take photos and videos of the operation. Do you think those would be used for learning? Hardly!
Okay, the person might be a homosexual but I personally don’t think that he deserved the amount of humilitaion that he got. What happened to him was humiliating enough but having your doctors and nurses make fun of your condition is way above humiliating. It’s degrading, disrespectful and it’s almost inhuman.
If we can’t trust our doctors then please tell me, who can we trust?
