For the second time this season of American Idol, Renaldo Lapuz stole the spotlight but this time he stole it from the two finalist, David Cook and David Archuleta.

According to his website (yes, he now has his own website), RenaldoLapuz.com, his appearance in the show was a surprise. He was flew in by American Idol on Monday and was told not to leave his hotel room until the final show. OMG! He stayed locked up for almost 3 days? Ha ha ha!

I’m so happy for this guy. To think that he was just an ordinary tricycle driver here in the Philippines but look at him now, an international celebrity. God does work in mysterious ways.

It seems that the UK also has its own version of the America’s Got Talent aptly called Britain’s Got Talent. The Got Talent series is different from the Idol series because the former features all sorts of talents not just singing which is what the latter is better known for.

Now, in the 2008 edition of Britain’s Got Talent two Filipinos (well, the other one is actually half filipino) took center stage and amazed the viewers. They are Madonna Decena and a young boy named Charlie Green.

Madonna Decena left the Philippines to find work in the UK. According to her, she decided to join the contest for her daughters whom she left in the Philippines in the care of their grandparents. Listen to her rendition of Whitney Houston’s I will Always Love.

Charlie Green is a 10-year old British-Filipino who decided to join the contest to fulfill his dream of becoming a great singer. His rendition of Frank Sinatra’s Summer Wind got a standing ovation from the audience.

Filipinos are really talented. Ramiele Malubay showed it at this year’s American Idol and now it’s Madonna Decena and Charlie Green’s turn to once again show the world how talented Filipinos are.

Whoa! Just a few minutes after I posted my previous post about Ramiele Malubay being predicted by DialIdol.com to be voted off, I read news about her being out of American Idol already. Wow! That was fast!

I first read about it at JoanJoyce.com and then at Idol Thoughts. Well, I wasn’t that surprised anymore to learn that she was voted off since she was already predicted to be voted off of the show anyway but I was hoping that she could get pass this elimination and move on to next week show where she’ll get a chance to sing a Mariah Carey song. I feel that she’ll perform better because Mariah Carey is one of her favorite singers and that she’ll be able to pick a song she is really comfortable with.

Anyway, now that Ramiele is out I am now down to one possible candidate to win the competition and that is David Archuleta. Yeah, I also mentioned before that Kristy Lee Cook is a favorite of mine but I really don’t see her winning it. I still like her a lot but, the reality is, she can only sing country. In fact, I’m very much curious to how she will perform next week being that it’s a Mariah Carey Week. It’ll also be interesting to see how the guys will do.

Again, DialIdol.com’s prediction is on the money. They predicted that Ramiele will be out and they got it absolutely right.

America has voted and it’s just too bad that Ramiele didn’t get enough votes to stay for another week. Still, American Idol must have been an amazing experience for her and eventhough she didn’t win, but with her sultry voice and a little more experience, she’ll definitely have a good career in singing.

Thanks to YouTube, I was able to watch all of the performances in yesterday’s American Idol episode and I must say that this week belongs to David Archuleta once again. I’m not familiar (because I’m not really a Dolly Parton fan) with the song David sang but he sang it beautifully.

As for Ramiele Malubay, well, her performance wasn’t bad, actually it was good but it was also not amazing. Well, at least for me it wasn’t.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Ramiele because she was really good back in the Top 24 and I still like her but right now, she is not singing the right songs. You know, songs that will really showcase her singing prowess. I know that she is not David Cook who can make wonders by rearranging the songs he performs but I think if she can just stick to the orginal melody and choose the right songs then I feel that it would be enough to get her to the Top 3, at most.

Anyway, I went to check DialIdol.com’s prediction for this week and I’m sad to say that Ramiele Malubay is currently placed down there at the bottom. I’m not saying that DialIdol.com’s prediction is 100% accurate but if you are looking for something to measure how America voted then I think DialIdol.com’s prediction is a good gauge to use (again, it’s not 100% accurate).

I really want to give Ramiele another week specially since next week will be songs by Mariah Carey. Does it matter if next week is Mariah Carey Week? Well, yes, because she is a Mariah Carey fan and I believe that she’ll perform better if she’ll sing songs that she really likes.

So, here’s to hoping that Ramiele can make it to next week and if by chance you do survive today’s elimination then please Ramiele show the entire America what you can really do.

Okay, I wasn’t able to watch the performance of the Top 11 this week because we were moving to our new home but I was able to watch the elimination. The bottom three this week were Carly Smithson, Amanda Overmyer and the pretty Kristy Lee Cook.

Well, I was surprised to see Carly Smithson in the bottom three because she is a good singer and I haven’t really heard the judges say anything negative about her performances but I was not surprised to see Amanda and Kristy. I really like Kristy a lot because she’s really pretty but unfortunately her performances of late is not very inspiring. For Amanda, nope, I never really liked her at all. Okay, she can sing but as a singer she is so one sided. It may work for a while but it will not always work all the time and this time it finally caught up with her. America voted and too bad for her, she didn’t get enough votes to stay longer.

American Idol is now down to the Final 10 and the competition will just get a lot tougher for the remaining contestants. All of them are really good but there can be only one American Idol.

My favorites are still the same; David Archuleta, Ramiele Malubay and Kristy Lee Cook although I’m really not expecting too much out of Kristy. In fact, I think she will be the next one to go so she better give an awesome performance next week. A performance that both the judges and the audiences would never forget because if not then it’s goodbye for her.

I used to watch American Idol before at a local channel here in the Philippines but I kinda lost interest in it but thanks to Renaldo Lapuz, my interest with American Idol this season was re-awaken. His audition was simply amazing, it was entertainment in its purest form, but unfortunately he was never qualified in the first place and even if he did get in, he won’t last very long. It was nice of American Idol to still let him audition. LOL!

Anyway, my current favorites in the Top 12 are:

• David Archuleta
• Ramiele Malubay and
• Kristy Lee Cook

I like David Archuleta very much and I feel that he is the man to beat in this season’s competition. He is young, good looking and can definitely sing. His last performance wasn’t really good but I’m sure he will bounce back next week to amaze everyone once again. If I’m going to pick a winner now then I’ll definitely pick him.

I like Ramiele because she has a great voice and can really hit those hard notes. She just have to really go all out if she wants to become the next American Idol because in her last two performances, I felt that she was kinda holding something back. She also needs to do something with her hair style because it’s starting to become a bit boring to look at. She definitely needs to change it.

For Kristy, I like her not because she is a great singer but because she is really pretty and she has this very sunny and wonderful glow around her. I don’t think she would actually win but I do like seeing her perform every week and I’m hoping that she stays longer.

Those are my current favorites and I think two of them (David A. and Ramiele) have a great chance of winning this season’s American Idol. Please vote for them!
