Today, we watched the Elimination Chamber LIVE on a local cable channel and it was a solid PPV. Both chambers, Raw and Smackdown, were entertaining to watch although I feel that Raw’s Elimination Chamber were more balanced. Smackdown’s Elimination Chamber were filled with small guys and kinda dragged in some parts during the match.

As for the results, John Cena won Raw’s Elimination Chamber and became the new WWE Champion for about a 10 minutes or less. LOL! After the match, the Chairman appeared on the ramp and ordered Cena to defend the title against Batista. Batista pinned John Cena after a spear and a Batista Bomb making him the new WWE Champion.

Smackdown’s Elimination Chamber was interesting and funny at times specially when Chris Jericho used one of the pods to protect himself from the Undertaker. At the end, the two men left in the chamber was Jericho and the Undertaker but Jericho pinned the Undertaker to became the new World Heavyweight Champion. It happened because Shawn Michaels appeared from below the chamber and Super Kicked the Undertaker. Jericho took the opportunity and pinned the Undertaker for the win.

By the way, I later found out (from various wrestling sites) that the Undertaker was literally burned alive when one of his pyro accidentally lit up under him during his entrance. Unfortunately, we didn’t see this on the LIVE broadcast. All we saw was the Undertaker running from the ramp to the ring which was very unusual for the Undertaker to do since he usually takes his time in entering the ring.

According to reports, the Undertaker was really furious after the match and WWE officials had to calm him down. Who wouldn’t be furious? Wrestling is fake but the body slams, the chops and the hits these athletes are taking inside the ring are not. I’m amazed that the Undertaker, after being literally engulfed in flames, was still able to perform as if nothing happened. Now, that’s professionalism and the least the WWE staff can do is keep them safe during their performance.

Below is a video from YouTube showing what happened during Undertaker’s entrance in the Elimination Chamber.

I read that WWE doesn’t want people to see what happened and they are pulling these videos off of YouTube. I just hope that the Undertaker didn’t suffered any serious injuries in that accident.

I wasn’t doing anything this morning so I decided to watch some television but I didn’t find anything good to watch on my favorite channels so I decided to channel surf. While going through the channels one by one, a familiar face appeared on one of the channels. The face belonged to Bret Hart and the show was a replay of last monday night’s RAW. I do watch professional wrestling but I haven’t really followed it that much this past few months so I’m kinda out of the loop in what’s happening in the professional wrestling world.

Watching Bret Hart in the middle of a WWE ring is a surprise for me. Wrestling fans know that Bret Hart’s relationship with WWE ended sourly because of what happened in Bret Hart’s match with Shawn Michaels in his last Survivor Series in Montreal. I don’t really know what actually happened at the end of that match but that particular event is now known as the Montreal Screwjob in pro wrestling history.

The part I tuned in to was with Bret Hart in the ring talking to the fans when Shawn Michaels appeared and entered the ring as well. They both talked about the past, shook hands and hugged each other. Shawn Michaels left the ring and Bret Hart called out Vince McMahon. Vince McMahon didn’t come out at that time but he did come to the ring at the end of the program where Bret Hart came out and interrupted him. Vince McMahon did most of the talking and it ended with a kick to the groan of Bret Hart.

I’m not sure if Bret Hart will be in WWE for very long but I surely don’t think he can wrestle. If he is going to stay for a while then I think he will be involved in non-wrestling capacity. I’m also curious to the amount Vince McMahon paid or offered to pay Bret Hart just to return and work for him (even for a short period) in WWE.

Below is a YouTube video of Bret Hart’s return to WWE. This video was after the program ended (because I didn’t see this happened in the replay I watched).

Just finished watching WWE’s No Mercy and good thing I didn’t pay for it but I did watch it legally. It was shown in a local cable channel as a special feature. Anyway, I felt that most, if not all, of the matches were not worth to be on a pay-per-view. All feels short and the setup of each spot move were too obvious. It’s a very mediocre PPV. In fact, I fell asleep during Triple H’s and Jeff Hardy’s match.

A quick win for Batista (Photo from WWE.com)

The PPV started with the ECW Championship match between Matt Hardy and Mark Henry. I know Matt won’t lose the title to Mark Henry since he just won it at Unforgiven but, come on, do they have to make the match suck as well. I feel that Matt didn’t do enough damage to make the defeat of Henry believable. Hey, it’s fake but it doesn’t have to look fake, right?

The Women’s Championship match between Beth Phoenix and Candice Michelle followed the ECW match. I don’t care much for WWE’s women’s division but I do like looking at most of them. For some reason, the match was okay maybe because I wasn’t expecting anything from the two ladies or maybe I was just glad it was over that quick.

The next match was between Rey Mysterio and Kane and honestly it was a decent match with Rey doing what he does best and that is to fly. I’m just disappointed that it ended in a disqualification. My guess is that, this thing with Kane and Rey isn’t over yet.

The Batista versus JBL Number One Contender’s match ended rather quickly. Batista was all over JBL, although JBL did do a few moves here and there but the entire match was all Batista. It was like, WWE just wanted to get that match over with so that Batista can be the number one contender once again for the championship. Wait a minute, I think the whole segment between Cryme Tyme and JBL, including JBL’s monologue, took longer than his match with Batista.

That was followed by the match between the Bigshow and the Undertaker. Again, this match is like a Smackdown setup match. There was nothing special in it and I still can’t believe that the Undertaker can be taken out that easily with a couple of punches. It’s not very Undertaker like.

I wasn’t able to watch the WWE Championship match between Triple H and Jeff Hardy because, as I’ve said above, I fell asleep. I woke up with Triple H overturning Jeff Hardy’s cover to pin Jeff Hardy and to retain the title. Anyway, I don’t think Jeff would ever become WWE Champion. I feel that WWE is just teasing the fans of a posible Jeff Hardy title run to keep them excited and wanting only to drop the belt to someone else.

In general, I was not too impressed with this year’s No Mercy. As I’ve said, the matches were too short, too predictable and they were not exciting. In short, the execution of the matches were not PPV material.

I was able to watch the entire 2008 Royal Rumble yesterday and no I’m not talking about the Jimmy Snuka/Roddy Piper thing. I’m referring to the Y2J and JBL’s match where Y2J missed a move but JBL still went down hard on the canvass. Too bad for them, the entire Madison Square Garden caught it and I almost fell out of my chair when I saw JBL fell down like a log. LOL! That particular sequence totally destroyed the match. Y2J was a bloody mess and I felt both tried hard to salvage the match from the botch but all I can think of was JBL falling down from a missed move.

Royal Rumble 2008’s singles matches weren’t great but the Rumble was pretty good until it got to the ending where John Cena entered as the 30th entry and eventually won the Rumble. My guess is, now that he is back, he will again be main eventing all future WWE PPVs. Darn! I was really hoping Jeff Hardy will win against Orton but with John Cena back, Jeff and many other Superstars will be put aside once again.

Anyway, if you wish to watch Royal Rumble 2008 then just head on over to Dailymotion.com and search for Royal Rumble 2008 or just click here.

I admit that I am not familiar with 50% of the wrestlers that competed in Bound for Glory 2007 but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. It just shows that if the matches are good then it is enough for a casual fan to enjoy it.

Oh, I almost forgot the match between Samoa Joe and Christian Cage. These two put up a great match and it’s not even a title match. What more if it was? It’ll be more than great. I never liked Christian in WWE but that changed after seeing how he performs in TNA.

If Bound For Glory 2007 was a preview of what to expect with TNA in coming months then we will surely see a big increase in its following.

TNA must be what it was created to be, an alternative to WWE and not become another WWE clone.
